Privacy policy

The short version: Time2Pray shows no advertising, carries no third-party trackers, and sells nothing to anyone. You can use almost all of it without an account at all.

This policy explains what the app collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. It covers the Time2Pray mobile app on iOS and Android and this website.

1. Using the app without an account

Prayer times, the Qibla, the Qur'ān, hadith, duʿā', the calendar, the tasbīḥ and the day view all work while signed out. Signing in is only needed to sync your saved items across devices, to keep streaks, and to submit or manage a masjid's times.

2. What the app collects

Location

With your permission, the app reads your device's location to calculate prayer times, work out the direction of the Kaʿbah, and find masjids near you. Your coordinates are used for that calculation and to fetch nearby results. No location history is kept — the app stores only your most recent position, on your device, so that times still work when you are offline.

Account information

If you create an account: your email address, and a display name if you give one. Authentication is handled by Supabase. We never see or store your password.

Things you choose to save

Favourite masjids, saved narrations and duʿā', Qur'ān bookmarks and reading position, khatam plans, fasting and prayer streaks, and any masjid times you submit as a volunteer. These are tied to your account when you are signed in, so they follow you to a new phone.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app registers a push token with Expo's notification service so reminders can reach your device. Prayer reminders themselves are scheduled on the phone and do not require the network.

Device sensors

The compass and the accelerometer are read while the Qibla screen is open, to point the arch and to tell you when the phone is lying flat. These readings never leave your device.

Diagnostics

Anonymous crash and error information, so faults can be found and fixed. It is not tied to your identity and is not used to profile you.

3. What the app does not do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No analytics or marketing trackers.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data with anyone for their own purposes.
• No location history, no movement profile.
• No reading of your contacts, photos, messages or call history.
• No microphone or camera access.

4. Things kept only on your phone

Some things are deliberately never uploaded. Your istikhāra journal, your appearance preference, your chosen adhan voice and notification settings, and downloaded hadith collections all stay in the app's own storage on your device. Deleting the app removes them.

5. Services the app relies on

Each of these receives only what it needs to answer the request:

• Supabase — accounts, sign-in, and the masjid and profile database.
• Aladhan — prayer time calculation. The app also calculates times on the device, so it keeps working offline.
• Tanzil — the text of the Qur'ān.
• OpenFreeMap — map tiles for the masjid map.
• Google Maps — the native map view on some screens, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
• Expo — delivery of push notifications and of app updates.
• Media hosts — streamed adhan recordings and the muezzin photographs shown when choosing a voice.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

Your information is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, and doing so is immediate and permanent.

One thing outlives the account on purpose. If you volunteered prayer times for a masjid, those times stay published for the congregation that relies on them — but they stop being attributed to you.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how it is used. Write to us and we will help; deletion you can also do yourself, immediately, from within the app.

8. Children

Time2Pray is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children in a way that collects their data. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

9. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and held in a database protected by row-level security, so one account cannot read another's. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects you.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it and the app will say so. Continuing to use Time2Pray after a change means accepting the updated policy.
